Description
Good friend to the trail Grant Faller has crafted and donated another beautiful cedar strip canoe. Here's what Grant has to say about the boat:
"This is boat #4 for me . I compromised on the hull shape and gave it a slightly rounded bottom, but increased the width at gunwales to 32". With little rocker, it tracks quite well and is very stable. I took it on a canoe trip overnight last fall in the marshes around the Delaware bay and was quite pleased, even in the heavy winds we had on the second day. Perfect for one person and camping gear or two for casual lake paddling.
The specs are as follows :
Length: 15' 1"
Max width: 34"
Weight: 55 lbs
The glass is 1 layer of 6oz. boat glass over entire exterior and 1 layer cut on a bias below approximate water line. The exterior is finished with 3 coats gloss spar varnish. The inside is 1 laver of 6 oz glass finished with 1 coat semi gloss varnish. All the glass is set with epoxy resin. The seats are ash frame with woven parachute cord seat and the midships thwart is a hand carved carrying yolk that actually fits your shoulders. Polypro painters not pictured but included with boat.
Pictures of the boat :
The first three are in my "workshop " The next is me on the Potomac river and the last is my friend John Meiller paddling this boat on the trip we did in the Delaware marshes."
Thank you Grant!
